About Element Mechanical Design
About us
Element Mechanical Design is an engineering studio is Malaga, just north of Perth, Western Australia. We’re a division of Element Engineering.

Element Mechanical Design grew out of the engineering division of Element Innovation Group. As we took on increasingly complex machinery and robotics projects, it became clear that advanced simulation and analysis capabilities needed a dedicated home of their own.
We found that WA engineers and manufacturers were often relying on interstate or overseas consultants for FEA, DEM and CFD work, which meant slow turnaround, limited collaboration and no local accountability. We built Element Mechanical Design to change that.

Why Perth Industries choose Element Mechanical Design
We’re WA Locals
Our engineers are based in Perth. You work directly with them, not through account managers or offshore teams.
Simulation-Backed Engineering
We use advanced simulation to validate designs before manufacture, saving cost and reducing risk throughout your project.
Full Transparency
We share our methods, models and results openly. You always know the state of your project and why engineering decisions are being made.
Connected to the Group
As a sub-brand of Element Engineering, we draw on the full capability of Element Innovation Group, including manufacturing, electronics and software, when your project needs it.

At Element Mechanical Design we working on such varied engineering.
One week we’re running FEA on a high-load mining attachment and the next we’re refining the CAD for a piece of fruit for an attraction at Perth’s Royal Show.
We’ve designed complex machinery for land, underground, sea, air – even space.
From mining to military, entertainment to the medical industry we’ve developed experience in every field.

The Element Mechanical Design Promise
We understand that as a customer, you want fast answers and to kept in the loop with production and development of your project. That’s why we pledge that we’ll get back to you in one business day or less. We won’t always have the answers, but at least we can tell you we’re working on your request.
We promise to respond to enquiries within 24 hours.
We understand how frustrating it can be when you are waiting for an answer and can’t get one in a timely fashion. That’s why we go out of our way to respond and keep you in the loop.
Our services
Element Mechanical Design provides engineering services across the full mechanical design lifecycle — from initial CAD modelling through simulation, analysis and certification. Every service connects to the others, and all of them can be supported by manufacturing through our sister division.
Computer Aided Design (CAD)
3D modelling and engineering drawings for complex components and assemblies, designed for manufacture from the first sketch.
Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
Structural, thermal and fatigue simulation to validate designs before manufacture and produce evidence for certification.
Discrete Element Modelling (DEM)
Bulk material flow simulation for transfer chutes, hoppers and conveyors — finding blockages and wear zones before the steel is cut.
Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)
Airflow, heat transfer and pressure analysis for industrial equipment, electronics enclosures and structures in cyclonic regions.
Certification
Engineering calculations, FEA evidence and drawing packages for WorkSafe WA and DMIRS design registration.
Fabrication Design
Weldment models, fabrication drawings and cut lists for pressure vessels, transport skids, bunded pallets and engineered steel assemblies.
Structural Design
Structural engineering for pipe bridges, module frames, equipment support structures and industrial steelwork to AS 4100.
Fixed Plant Design
End-to-end engineering for permanently installed industrial plant — conveyor structures, process equipment supports and pressure vessels.
Mobile Plant Design
Structural and mechanical engineering for mine site vehicles, transport trailers, relocatable skids and underground mobile equipment.
Cyclonic Wind Loading
Wind load engineering to AS/NZS 1170.2 for pipelines, antenna structures, fixed and mobile plant in Australian cyclonic wind regions.
Part of the Element Innovation Group
Element Mechanical Design is a sub-brand of Element Engineering, the mechanical engineering division of Element Innovation Group. When a project needs more than design and analysis, the group has the capability to deliver it.
Element Engineering
Our parent division. Element Engineering handles the full mechanical engineering scope of applied engineering for complex industrial projects.
Element Manufacturing
Our sister manufacturing division in Malaga, Perth. Once your design is complete, Element Manufacturing can take it directly to production. CNC machining, fabrication, 3D printing and anodising, all under one roof.
